Long Thanh International Airport is a major greenfield airport project located in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province, approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. It is being developed by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to relieve the severely congested Tan Son Nhat International Airport and serve the growing aviation demand of southern Vietnam. The project is one of the largest infrastructure investments in Vietnam's history, with an estimated total cost of over $16 billion USD across multiple phases. Phase 1, targeting a capacity of 25 million passengers per year, was under active construction as of the mid-2020s, with completion originally targeted for around 2025–2026, though timelines have been subject to revision. When fully completed across all phases, Long Thanh is planned to handle up to 100 million passengers annually, positioning it as one of Southeast Asia's largest aviation hubs. The airport is expected to accommodate wide-body long-haul aircraft and serve as an international transit hub for the region.
