Akıncı Air Base, designated ICAO code LTAE, is a major Turkish Air Force installation located northwest of Ankara, Turkey. It serves as a key military airfield hosting advanced combat and reconnaissance aircraft operated by the Turkish Armed Forces. The base gained significant international attention during the July 2016 coup attempt in Turkey, as it was identified as a central hub for coup plotters who used aircraft from the base during the incident. Following the coup attempt, Turkish authorities conducted extensive reorganization of personnel and operations at the facility. Akıncı is not a civilian commercial airport and has no scheduled passenger services. It has historically housed assets including F-16 Fighting Falcons and various other Turkish Air Force platforms, making it one of the more operationally significant bases in the country.
