Lappeenranta Airport (IATA: LPP, ICAO: EFLP) is a regional airport located in Lappeenranta, in the South Karelia region of southeastern Finland. Situated close to the Russian border, it historically served a notable volume of Russian travelers, particularly before travel restrictions related to geopolitical events significantly reduced cross-border traffic. The airport is owned and operated by Finavia, the Finnish state-owned airport network company. It offers a modest range of scheduled and charter services, with connectivity to destinations primarily in Central and Southern Europe. The airport's passenger numbers have fluctuated considerably in recent years due to geopolitical changes affecting Russian travel. Despite its regional scale, Lappeenranta Airport has punched above its weight in terms of international traffic, particularly through low-cost carriers serving sun destinations and connecting Finnish Karelians with European cities.
