Hinterstoisser Air Base, designated ICAO code LOXZ, is a military airfield located near Zeltweg in the Styrian region of Austria. It serves as the home base of the Austrian Air Force's jet operations and is closely associated with the famous AirPower airshow, one of the largest aviation displays in Central Europe. The base is named after Austrian aerobatics pilot Josef Hinterstoisser, who died in a training accident in 1937. It hosts Austrian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon jets and has historically been a center for military aviation training and operations in Austria. The airfield is not open to commercial passenger traffic and functions exclusively as a military installation. It is situated in the broad Mur valley, which provides suitable terrain for flight operations in an otherwise mountainous country.
