Savannah Airstrip (IATA: KHX) is a small domestic airstrip located near Kihihi in the Kanungu District of southwestern Uganda. It serves as a key access point for travelers heading to nearby Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for mountain gorilla trekking. The airstrip primarily handles light charter aircraft and scheduled domestic flights connecting the remote area to Entebbe and other Ugandan destinations. Its existence greatly reduces travel time for tourists who would otherwise face long overland journeys on difficult roads. Due to its remote location and limited infrastructure, the facility is modest in scale, catering mainly to safari operators, conservation workers, and eco-tourists visiting the surrounding national parks and reserves.
