Double Eagle II Airport (KAEG) is a public general aviation airport located on the west side of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in Bernalillo County. It serves as the primary reliever airport for Albuquerque International Sunport, handling a significant volume of private, corporate, and flight training operations. The airport is owned and operated by the City of Albuquerque and features multiple runways capable of accommodating a wide range of general aviation aircraft. It is home to several flight schools, fixed-base operators (FBOs), and aircraft maintenance facilities. The airport's name commemorates the Double Eagle II helium balloon, which in August 1978 became the first balloon to successfully cross the Atlantic Ocean, departing from a field near Albuquerque. This historic flight is celebrated in the airport's identity.
