İstanbul Atatürk Airport served as the primary international airport for Istanbul, Turkey, located in the Bakırköy district on the European side of the city. Named after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, it was one of the busiest airports in Europe before its closure to commercial flights. At its peak, the airport handled over 68 million passengers annually and served as the main hub for Turkish Airlines. It featured an international terminal and a domestic terminal, with extensive cargo and general aviation facilities. Commercial passenger operations were transferred to the new Istanbul Airport (IST) in April 2019, after which Atatürk Airport was closed to scheduled commercial flights. The site has since been repurposed, with parts converted into a pandemic hospital during COVID-19 and plans for a large urban park.

Atatürk Airport is a public airport located in Yeşilköy, Istanbul Province, Turkey. Formerly the primary international airport of Istanbul and the hub of Turkish Airlines, it was closed to commercial passenger flights on 6 April 2019. From that point, all commercial scheduled passenger flights were transferred to the new Istanbul Airport. Since the move of commercial operations to the new airport, Atatürk Airport is open to general aviation and functions as an executive airport.
