Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport is a newly constructed civil airport located near the town of Ghimbav, approximately 15 kilometers from the center of Brașov, Romania. It is the first entirely new airport built in Romania since the communist era and is intended to serve the Transylvania region, which previously lacked direct air access despite being a major tourist and economic hub. The airport has been under development for many years, facing repeated delays related to funding, construction, and regulatory approvals. It is designed to complement existing Romanian airports and reduce pressure on Bucharest's Henri Coandă International Airport for passengers traveling to and from the Transylvania area.
