Lefkoniko Airport, known as Geçitkale Air Base in Turkish, is a former civilian airport located near the village of Lefkoniko (Geçitkale) in the Famagusta district of Cyprus. The airport was operational prior to the Turkish military intervention in Cyprus in 1974, after which it ceased commercial operations and came under the control of Turkish military forces. The facility has since functioned primarily as a military air base operated by Turkish and Turkish Cypriot forces in the northern part of the island, which is administered as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), an entity recognized only by Turkey. The airport is not open to commercial air traffic. The IATA code GEC and ICAO code LCGK remain formally assigned to the site, though no scheduled civilian flights operate from the location. The broader political status of northern Cyprus means that international aviation bodies treat the airspace and facilities with significant restrictions.
