RAF Shawbury is a Royal Air Force station located near Shrewsbury in Shropshire, England. It serves as the home of the Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS) and is the principal site for training military helicopter pilots for all three UK armed services. The station hosts No. 60 Squadron RAF, which provides the elementary flying training component for rotary-wing aircrew. Aircraft operated at Shawbury have included the Squirrel HT1, Griffin HT1, and more recently the Juno HT1 and Jupiter HT1 helicopters under the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS). RAF Shawbury also hosts the Central Air Traffic Control School (CATCS), which trains military air traffic controllers for all branches of the UK armed forces. The airfield is not open to commercial passenger traffic and has no public terminal facilities.
