Chkalovskiy Air Base (ICAO: UUMU) is a military airfield located in Shchyolkovo, to the northeast of Moscow, Russia. It serves primarily as a base for the Russian Air Force and is associated with the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center at Star City nearby. The base has historically been used for special government flights, military transport operations, and cosmonaut-related activities. It is named after the renowned Soviet test pilot Valery Chkalov. Civilian scheduled operations are minimal, and public access is heavily restricted. Despite having an IATA code (CKL), the airport does not serve regular commercial airline traffic. It functions predominantly as a restricted military installation with occasional charter or government transport flights.
