Location
Yulara, Australia
Ayers Rock Connellan Airport, coded AYQ and designated YAYE, serves the tourist resort town of Yulara in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is the primary air access point for visitors to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, one of Australia's most iconic natural landmarks.
The airport is named after Eddie Connellan, a pioneering Australian aviation entrepreneur who established air services to remote parts of Australia. Due to its remote desert location, the airport relies almost entirely on tourism traffic, with passenger numbers closely tied to visitation to Uluru.
Despite its modest size, the airport handles regular jet services from major Australian cities, making it one of the more significant regional airports in the Northern Territory. It is operated by the Northern Land Council-connected Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia.
Terminals
The airport has a single small terminal building with limited facilities suited to its regional tourism-focused role.
Getting to & from
Ground transport from the airport to the Yulara resort precinct and Uluru is provided by shuttle buses and hire vehicles, as the distance is only a few kilometres.
