Comair was a regional airline based in the United States that operated as a Delta Connection carrier, providing feeder services to Delta Air Lines' hub-and-spoke network. Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Erlanger, Kentucky, near Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the airline grew from a small commuter operation into a significant regional carrier. The airline operated under the Delta Connection brand, offering passengers seamless connections to Delta's broader network. Comair was known for being one of the pioneering regional carriers in the United States and at one point operated an extensive route network across the eastern United States and into Canada and the Caribbean. Comair ceased operations on September 5, 2012, after its parent company Delta Air Lines decided to shut it down following a bankruptcy filing. The airline had previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2001 after a pilots' strike severely disrupted its operations. Its closure marked the end of a 35-year history in regional aviation.
