British Aerospace Jetstream 31

The British Aerospace Jetstream 31 is a twin-turboprop commuter aircraft developed as an evolution of the original Handley Page Jetstream design from the late 1960s. British Aerospace relaunched the type with updated Garrett TPE331 engines and modern avionics, with the improved Jetstream 31 entering service in 1982. It became one of the most successful small commuter turboprops of its era, particularly popular in North America and the United Kingdom. Designed for short-haul regional routes, the Jetstream 31 typically seats 19 passengers in a pressurized cabin, offering a level of comfort uncommon for aircraft of its size at the time. Its pressurization allowed operations at higher altitudes, improving ride quality and fuel efficiency compared to unpressurized competitors. Though production ended in the 1990s, many examples remain in service with regional carriers, charter operators, and in corporate configurations. The type established a lineage continued by the stretched Jetstream 41.
