Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante

The Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante is a twin-turboprop commuter aircraft developed by the Brazilian manufacturer Embraer as one of its first commercial products. Designed in the late 1960s with assistance from French engineer Max Holste, it was produced in numerous variants for passenger, cargo, and military roles, becoming foundational to Embraer's rise as a major aircraft manufacturer. The Bandeirante entered service in the 1970s and found widespread adoption among regional and commuter airlines across the Americas, Europe, and beyond. Its rugged construction, versatility, and relatively low operating costs made it popular in markets with short, thin routes. Embraer produced over 500 examples before production ended in the early 1990s. Though largely retired from commercial service in developed markets, some Bandeirantes continue to operate in cargo and utility roles in developing regions. The type is historically significant as the aircraft that established Embraer's presence in civil aviation.
