The Airbus A321neo (New Engine Option) is a stretched, re-engined variant of the A321, itself the largest member of the A320 family. Launched in 2010 and entering service in 2017, it features new-generation high-bypass turbofan engines paired with aerodynamic Sharklet wingtip devices, delivering fuel savings of approximately 20 percent compared to the previous-generation A321ceo. The aircraft is offered in multiple long-range sub-variants, including the A321LR (Long Range) and A321XLR (Extra Long Range). The XLR, in particular, is designed to operate thin transatlantic and long-haul routes previously requiring larger widebody aircraft, with a range exceeding 8,700 km. The A321neo has become one of the most commercially successful commercial aircraft programs in history, accumulating thousands of orders from airlines worldwide. It serves as a versatile platform suitable for short-haul high-density routes as well as medium- and long-haul operations.
